How to fix the IRS FW2-502 reject code in MyFreeTaxReturn.com

1) Enter the return, select Income in the Federal Return side bar navigation

2) Select the W-2

3) You will be taken to the W-2 Income page, select the edit pencil icon under Employer at the top of the page.

4) Select the edit icon pencil next to the EIN, here you can correct the employer EIN with their 9 digit identification number number

Once it has been updated, you will need to resubmit your filing.

To resubmit your filing:

Continue through until you reach a page that says, Congratulations, your return(s) have been filed.

Please note:

If the EIN that you have listed on your W-2 matches the one you have entered and it is still getting rejected, please contact the issuer of the W-2 to verify that the EIN is the correct number. If you contact the issuer and they verify that the EIN that is getting rejected is the one they have on record, they will need to call the IRS to let them know about the inconsistency in filing.
