What is a Schedule A?
Use Schedule A (Form 1040 or 1040-SR) to figure your itemized deductions. In most cases, your federal income tax will be less if you take the larger of your itemized deductions or your standard deduction.

Gifts to Charity
If applicable you will enter amounts for:
- Gifts by cash or check
- Non-cash donations (Clothing, Furniture etc)
Casualty and Theft Losses
If applicable you will enter information for:
- Disaster name/date
- FEMA declaration number
Other Itemized Deductions
- Gambling Losses
- Federal Estate taxes
- Bond Premium
Total Itemized Deductions
- This section will calculate the total amount of deductions input into the Schedule A
- You will also indicate here if you would like to force to itemize deductions and not consider for standard deduction
How to include inputs a Schedule A
1) Enter the return, select Add Form +
2) Search Schedule A Itemized Deductions
3) Select the pencil icon to edit and input values on your Schedule A
